Ingredients

  • For the Syrup
  • 750 g 26.5 oz Sugar

  • 350 g 12.3 oz Orange Juice

  • 600 g 21.2 oz Water

  • Juice of Half a Lemon

  • 4 4 Slices of Orange

  • For the Orange Pie
  • 6 6 Eggs

  • 350 g 12.3 oz Sugar

  • 50 g 1.8 oz Cognac (or Orange Juice)

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch Salt

  • 2 2 Vanillins

  • 7 g 0.2 oz Baking Powder

  • 250 g 8.8 oz Margarine

  • Zest of 3 Oranges

  • 100 g 3.5 oz Chocolate Sprinkles

  • 550 g 19.4 oz Fine Semolina

Recipe directions

  • For the Syrup
  • In a saucepan, combine the sugar, orange juice, water, juice from half a lemon, and mix well.
  • Add the orange slices to the saucepan, which will be used later for decoration.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat, bring it to a boil, and let it simmer for 6 minutes.
  • Allow the syrup to cool.
  • For the Orange Pie
  • In a bowl, add the eggs and sugar, and beat well with a mixer.
  • Add a pinch of salt, cognac (or orange juice if you prefer non-alcoholic), vanilla extract, and gradually incorporate the butter while mixing with the mixer.
  • Add the baking powder and mix.
  • Add the orange zest, chocolate sprinkles, semolina, and mix with a spatula.
  • Butter a baking dish of 25×35 cm, pour in the mixture, and spread it evenly.
  • Preheat the oven to 170 C (340) in a fan oven, and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • To Assemble
  • Pour the syrup over the orange pie and let it absorb for at least 20 minutes.
