Ingredients

  • 430 g 2 cup Olive Oil

  • 430 g 2 cup Sugar

  • 220 g 1 cup Fresh Orange Juice

  • 100 g 1/3 cup Cognac or Brandy

  • Zest of 2 Oranges

  • 1050 g 7 cup All-Purpose Flour

  • 3 tsp 3 tsp Baking Powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp Ground Cloves

  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp Salt

  • Sesame Seeds, for coating

How to make Orange Sesame Cookies

  • Prepare the Dough
  • In a large bowl, combine the olive oil and sugar and mix well.
  • Add the salt, cognac, orange juice, orange zest, cinnamon, and ground cloves.
  • Stir until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients while continuously mixing.
  • Knead lightly until a dough forms that no longer sticks to your hands.
  • Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
  • Shape the Cookies
  • Take small portions of dough and shape them by hand into your preferred cookie shape.
  • Roll each cookie in sesame seeds.
  • Place on baking trays lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 340°F (170°C) using conventional top and bottom heat for approximately 30–35 minutes.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
