Ingredients

  • For the Dough
  • 3 3 Eggs

  • 300 g 10.6 oz Granulated Sugar

  • 250 g 8.8 oz Butter

  • 200 g 6.8 fl oz Milk

  • 1 kg 35.3 oz All-purpose Flour

  • 20 g 0.7 oz Baking Powder

  • 3 3 Vanillins

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch Salt

  • Zest of 2 Oranges

  • For the Egg Wash
  • 1 1 Egg

  • 50 g 1.7 fl oz Milk

How to make the Cookies

  • Preparing the Dough
  • In a bowl, add the eggs and sugar. Beat the ingredients until they are light and fluffy.
  • Add the room-temperature butter, vanilla, a pinch of salt, and the orange zest. Continue beating until all the ingredients are fully combined.
  • Gradually add the milk, beating continuously.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring continuously.
  • Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands.
  • Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.
  • Shaping the Cookies
  • Take a 30 g (1 oz) piece of dough and roll it into a log with your hands. Then, shape it into a crescent.
  • Take a smaller piece of dough, about 0.5 oz (15 g), and also roll it into a log. Place it in the middle of the crescent and braid it.
  • Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between them.
  • Repeat this process with the rest of the dough.
  • In a bowl, beat one egg with the milk and brush the cookies with the mixture.
  • Preheat your oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF) and bake the cookies for about 20 minutes on the middle rack (using the top and bottom heating elements).

It was a recipe passed down from generation to generation, a small secret carefully hidden within our family.

Today, the time has come to share it with you! Let’s make these beloved Orange Vanilla Cookies together.
