Spaghetti with Bacon and Mushrooms à la crème

We’re about to embark on a culinary adventure filled with rich flavors and comforting aromas. Let me share with you a delightful recipe for Spaghetti with Bacon and Mushrooms à la Crème that will take your taste buds on a journey they won’t soon forget. This hearty dish combines the classic combination of bacon and mushrooms with a creamy twist, resulting in a pasta dish that will satisfy even the most discerning palate. So, grab your apron and let’s get cooking!

Cooking the Pasta

To begin, fill a large pot with 2 liters of water and place it over high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of salt to the water and bring it to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook it according to the instructions on the packet, or until it reaches al dente consistency.

Remember to reserve some of the pasta water before draining the spaghetti. This starchy liquid will come in handy later when preparing the sauce.

Preparing the Sauce

While the pasta is cooking, it’s time to prepare the flavorful sauce that will coat every strand of spaghetti. In a frying pan, heat 100 grams of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced bacon and sauté it until it turns crispy and releases its delicious aroma.

Once the bacon is cooked, add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté them until the mushrooms become tender and golden brown. The combination of bacon and mushrooms will create a tantalizing blend of savory flavors.

Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences. Remember to go easy on the salt, as the bacon already adds a salty element to the dish.

Bringing it All Together

Now it’s time to bring the pasta and sauce together to create a harmonious culinary symphony. Pour the milk cream into the pan with the bacon and mushrooms. To add a touch of silkiness to the sauce, incorporate a small amount of the reserved pasta water. The starch in the water will help bind the sauce and create a velvety texture.

Allow the sauce to simmer gently, allowing the flavors to meld together. As the sauce reduces and thickens, it will coat the back of a spoon, signaling that it’s ready. At this point, sprinkle a generous handful of grated Parmesan cheese into the pan and stir until it melts into the sauce, adding a delightful creaminess and a nutty undertone.

Serving the Spaghetti à la Crème Dish

With the sauce prepared and the pasta cooked to perfection, it’s time to bring everything together. Transfer the drained spaghetti back to the empty pot and add 2.5 oz (70 grams) of butter. Toss the pasta gently in the melted butter, ensuring that every strand gets coated and glistens with a luscious sheen.

Next, transfer the buttery spaghetti to a large serving plate. Sprinkle the remaining grated Parmesan cheese over the top, allowing it to melt and intermingle with the strands of pasta. This additional layer of cheese adds depth and richness to the dish.

Finally, pour the creamy bacon and mushroom sauce over the spaghetti, allowing it to cascade down the sides and pool at the bottom. The aromatic blend of flavors will tantalize your senses, setting the stage for a truly memorable dining experience.

Garnish the dish with a sprinkling of finely chopped parsley, adding a vibrant touch of freshness. The parsley not only provides a pop of color but also complements the savory elements of the dish with its herbaceous notes.
