Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 400 g 1 3/4 cup Greek Yogurt

  • 100 g 1/3 cup Milk

  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Vinegar

  • 400 g 1 3/4 cup Olive Oil (or corn oil or mix)

  • 20 g 3 tsp Baking Powder

  • 750 g 6 cup All-purpose Flour

  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

  • Thyme

  • 50-70 g 1/2 Grated Melting Cheese

  • Filling
  • 250 g 1 cup Feta Cheese

  • 200 g 7/8 cup Melting Cheese

  • Topping
  • Sesame Seeds

How to make the Cheese Buns

  • Prepare the Dough
  • In a large bowl, add the yogurt and milk and mix well.
  • Add the oil and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the vinegar.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder. Add half of this mixture to the wet ingredients.
  • Season with salt, pepper, thyme, and add the grated cheese. Mix well.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour mixture while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  • Shape the Cheese Buns
  • Divide the dough into 70 g portions and lightly shape each piece with your hands.
  • Press each dough piece flat, add feta and melting cheese in the center, and seal into a ball.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200ยฐC / 390ยฐF (static heat) for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.
