Ingredients

  • 600 g 21.2 All-Purpose Flour

  • 360 g 12.7 Water

  • 50 g 1.8 Margarine

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch Salt

  • 50 g 1.8 oz Sugar

  • 8 g 0.3 oz Dry Yeast

  • Seed Oil for frying

  • Sugar for coating

How to make Greek Loukoumades

  • In a bowl, add the flour, a pinch of salt, sugar, and yeast, and mix lightly.
  • Add the lukewarm water and knead the dough.
  • Add the margarine and continue kneading for 4-5 minutes.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the dough to rise.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface.
  • Divide the dough into 80-gram balls.
  • To shape the loukoumades, take a dough ball and make a hole in the center with your finger.
  • With your fingers in the hole, rotate them to create the shape of the donut.
  • Cover the loukoumades with cling film and let them rise for at least 20 minutes.
  • In a pot, add vegetable oil and heat it well over medium heat.
  • Place the donuts in the hot oil and fry them on both sides.
  • In a bowl, add sugar.
  • Once fried, toss the donuts in the sugar to coat them.
