Pizza Tart: Thick-Crust Pizza Pie in a Tart Pan

Πίτσα Τάρτα σε πιατέλα - Pizza Tart

This Pizza Tart combines the richness of a deep-dish pizza with the structure of a savory tart. Baked in a tart pan, it features a soft, fluffy yeast dough base topped with juicy fresh tomatoes, melted cheese, and your favorite pizza fillings.

Unlike traditional thin-crust pizza, this version creates a thicker, bread-like base that absorbs the tomato juices beautifully while staying tender inside. It’s ideal for family meals, gatherings, or when you want something more substantial than classic pizza.

What Makes Pizza Tart Different?

Unlike standard pizza, this recipe uses a deeper pan and thicker dough, giving it a more substantial texture. The tart pan shape creates defined edges and allows the crust to rise beautifully.

Fresh Tomato Advantage

Using fresh diced tomatoes with their juices keeps the interior moist and flavorful. As the pizza bakes, the juices absorb into the dough, enhancing the overall taste.

Ideal for Customization

You can adapt this pizza tart with:

  • Classic pepperoni
  • Vegetarian combinations
  • Extra cheese layers
  • Mediterranean toppings

The structure supports generous fillings without becoming soggy.

Texture & Baking Tips

Allowing a second rise in the pan helps create a lighter interior. Baking at high temperature ensures the crust cooks fully while the top becomes golden and slightly crisp.
