These vegan sesame breadsticks are crispy, flavorful, and perfect as a snack or side dish. Simple to make with pantry staples, they’re coated in sesame seeds for a delicious crunch.
Note: The thinner the breadsticks, the crispier they will be.

Ingredients

  • For the Dough
  • 500 g 17.6 oz All-Purpose Flour

  • 20 g 0.7 oz Sugar

  • 7 g 0.2 oz Salt

  • 20 g 0.7 oz Tahini (sesame paste) or Vegetable Oil

  • 8 g 0.3 oz Dry Yeast

  • 280 g 9.4 fl oz Water (lukewarm)

  • For the Coating
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Sugar

  • 1-2 glasses 1-2 glasses Water

  • Sesame Seeds

Recipe directions

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  • Add the tahini (or vegetable oil) and lukewarm water, and knead until a dough forms.
  • Cover the dough with cling film and let it rise.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1โ€“2 cups of lukewarm water.
  • Spread sesame seeds on a tray.
  • Take a small piece of dough and roll it into a thin stick. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  • Dip 2โ€“3 breadsticks into the sugar water, drain slightly, and place them on the tray with sesame seeds. Shake the tray to coat the breadsticks evenly, turn them over, and repeat.
  • Transfer the sesame-coated breadsticks to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rest for 20 minutes to rise.
  • Preheat the oven to 200ยฐC (390ยฐF) and bake for 20 minutes.
