These vegan sesame breadsticks are crispy, flavorful, and perfect as a snack or side dish. Simple to make with pantry staples, they’re coated in sesame seeds for a delicious crunch.
Note: The thinner the breadsticks, the crispier they will be.

Ingredients

  • For the Dough
  • 500 g 17.6 oz All-Purpose Flour

  • 20 g 0.7 oz Sugar

  • 7 g 0.2 oz Salt

  • 20 g 0.7 oz Tahini (sesame paste) or Vegetable Oil

  • 8 g 0.3 oz Dry Yeast

  • 280 g 9.4 fl oz Water (lukewarm)

  • For the Coating
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Sugar

  • 1-2 glasses 1-2 glasses Water

  • Sesame Seeds

Recipe directions

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  • Add the tahini (or vegetable oil) and lukewarm water, and knead until a dough forms.
  • Cover the dough with cling film and let it rise.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1–2 cups of lukewarm water.
  • Spread sesame seeds on a tray.
  • Take a small piece of dough and roll it into a thin stick. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  • Dip 2–3 breadsticks into the sugar water, drain slightly, and place them on the tray with sesame seeds. Shake the tray to coat the breadsticks evenly, turn them over, and repeat.
  • Transfer the sesame-coated breadsticks to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rest for 20 minutes to rise.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and bake for 20 minutes.
