Ingredients

  • 12 slices 12 Sandwich Bread, crusts removed

  • 4 4 Eggs

  • 400 g 1 2/3 cup Heavy Cream

  • 300 g 10.5 oz Sliced Ham or Turkey

  • 250 g 9 oz Sliced Cheese (e.g. cheddar, douda)

  • 200 g 7 oz Bacon (optional)

  • 1 can 1 can Sliced Mushrooms

  • 300 g 10.5 oz Mozzarella, shredded

  • Olive Oil, for greasing baking dish

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

  • Salt and Pepper

How to make Bread Soufflé

  • In a bowl, whisk eggs with heavy cream. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Grease a 25×35 cm (10×14 in) baking dish with olive oil.
  • Arrange a layer of sandwich bread slices to cover the bottom.
  • Spoon some of the egg mixture over the bread slices.
  • Add a layer of sliced cheese, then a layer of ham.
  • Cover with a second layer of bread, drizzle more egg mixture.
  • Add another layer of sliced cheese
  • Top with mushrooms, remaining ham, and optional bacon.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the top.
  • Pour remaining egg mixture over the dish.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C / 350°F (bottom/top heat) for 40–50 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
